Nach der Dynamik von Mahé wird es etwas Zeit für mehr Ruhe, Entspannung, Gelassenheit… Was rede ich da? Gar nicht. Ich gewöhne mich langsam wieder an Trubel, an Menschen und genieße neue Bekanntschaften. Als ich von Mahé abfuhr, hatte ich Sorge, dass es nun zu ruhig werden würde, dass ich mich auf eine ganz andere Situation einlassen muss, dass ich Sehnsucht nach mehr Action bekomme. Trotzdem freute ich mich auf Bungalow mit Pool.

After the dynamics of Mahé, it’s a little time for more rest, relaxation, serenity…. What am I talking about? Not at all. I’m slowly getting used to the hustle and bustle again, to people and enjoying new acquaintances. When I left Mahé, I was worried that it would be too quiet now, that I would have to get involved in a completely different situation, that I would get a longing for more action. Nevertheless, I was looking forward to a bungalow with a pool.

Gerade an der Fähre angekommen, erhielt ich eine Nachricht von meiner Vermieterin. Sie muss mich in eine andere Ferienanlage umbuchen, da ihre Belegschaft positiv auf COVID getestet wurde. Für die ganze Zeit, denn sie müssen alle 14 Tage in Quarantäne. Ich google te das neue Apartment auf booking.com und stellte erstmal fest: Alles ausgebucht. Die Bungalows waren im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes kleine Chalets. Abwarten….

Just arrived at the ferry, I received a message from my landlady. She has to rebook me into another resort because her staff tested positive for COVID. For the whole time, as they have to be in quarantine for 14 days. I googled the new flat on booking.com and first found out: Everything was fully booked. The bungalows were literally small chalets. Wait and see….

Bevor es auf die Fähre ging, musste das Gepäck eingecheckt werden. Wie auf dem Flughafen. Der Wartebereich füllte sich. Ich wartete auf die Autovermietungsdame, um das Auto abzugeben. Und sie ließ mich warten. Ich rief kurz vor dem Boarding an und wollte wissen, was ich machen soll. Ja, ganz einfach. Auto abschließen und Schlüssel unter die Matte. Ok?! Wenn das so funktioniert, warum nicht. Die Fähre war gut gefüllt. Ich ergatterte mir einen Fensterplatz. Die Überfahrt war etwas schauklig. Eine ganze Menge Touristen besorgten sich eine Spucktüte. Ja so schlimm fand ich es nun auch wieder nicht. Nach etwa einer Stunde erreichte ich Paradies no. 3b – Praslin. Wie geht das jetzt mit den Koffern? Drei Angestellte holten alle einzeln aus dem Laderaum und die Menschen standen hinter einer Absperrung und gaben Zeichen.

Before boarding the ferry, the luggage had to be checked in. Just like at the airport. The waiting area was filling up. I waited for the car rental lady to drop off the car. And she kept me waiting. I called just before boarding to find out what to do. Yes, very simple. Lock the car and put the key under the mat. Okay?! If that’s how it works, why not. The ferry was full. I got myself a window seat. The ride was a bit rocky. A lot of tourists got themselves a spittoon bag. I didn’t think it was that bad. The journey to Praslin took about one hour. How does it work with the luggage then? Three employees took them out of the hold one by one and the people stood behind a barrier and gave signs.

Ich war ja ganz gespannt auf meine Unterkunft, das Cote d’or Footprints. Ich bekam ein Chalet, eine Villa – viel zu groß für mich allein. Wohnzimmer, Küche, Schlafzimmer mit einem Riesenbett, Terrasse … mit Blick aufs Meer. Was für ein Upgrade!!! Pool habe ich auch. Ich kann es gar nicht fassen. Aber eins verstehe ich nicht: auf booking.com völlig ausgebucht und neben mir ist gerade mal noch ein Pärchen hier. Die anderen 10 Villen stehen leer.

I was quite excited about my accommodation, the Cote d’or Footprints. I got a chalet, a villa – much too big for me alone. Living room, kitchen, bedroom with a giant bed, terrace … with a view of the sea. What an upgrade!!! I got a pool too. I can’t believe it. But one thing I don’t understand: on booking.com completely booked and next to me there is just one couple here. The other 10 villas are empty.

Die ersten beiden Tage brauchte ich tatsächlich erst einmal um runterzukommen und herauszufinden, wie ich mich auf der Insel fortbewegen werde, wo es was zu Essen gibt. Und ich hatte mit der Lage echt Glück. Um zu den Hotspots – Strände – zu kommen, kann man den Bus nehmen. Um auf andere Inseln zu kommen, gibt es am Strand von Anse Vollbert Wassertaxi qboote.

The first two days I actually needed to get down and find out how I was going to get around on the island, where there was food. And I was really lucky with the location. To get to the hotspots – beaches – you can take the bus. To get to other islands, there are water taxi boats at Anse Vollbert beach.

Allerdings fehlte mir schon nach wenigen Stunden Gesellschaft. Ich fühlte mich ein bisschen verloren in Paradise 3b. Außer den Vögeln, die mich am Morgen aus dem Bett sangen, war da niemand weiter. Ich lief den Strand mehrfach am Tag rauf und runter (ca 5 km), schnorchelte um eine Insel, zu der man bei Ebbe auch laufen kann, machte am Strand Witze mit den Einheimischen.

However, after only a few hours I was already missing company. I felt a bit lost in Paradise 3b. Apart from the birds singing me out of bed in the morning, there was no one else. I walked up and down the beach several times a day (about 5 km), snorkelled around an island to which you can also walk at low tide, joked with the locals on the beach.

Am 3. Tag nahm ich mir ein Wassertaxi nach Curieuse, der Schildkröteninsel. Und für kurze Zeit hatte ich Gesellschaft von Mika aus Deutschland. Eine junge Frau, die auch allein unterwegs war. Wir erkundeten gemeinsam diese Insel. Wir wurden am Schildkröten Hotspot herausgelassen, Die Großen, Ausgewachsenen bewegten sich frei auf der Insel. Aber nur an dieser einen Stelle. Kleinere und Babies sind in Gehegen, geschützt vor Touristen.

On the 3rd day I took a water taxi to Curieuse, the turtle island. And for a short time I had company from Mika from Germany. A young woman who was also travelling alone. We explored this island together. We were let out at the turtle hotspot. The big, adult ones moved freely on the island. But only at this one spot. Smaller ones and babies are in enclosures, protected from tourists.

Nach diversen Streicheleinheiten liefen wir durch den Mangrovenwald über die Insel zum nächsten Strand, wo wir dann später vom selben Taxiboat abgeholt wurden. Die Schildkröten wurden weniger, dafür gab es eine Menge Krabben zu sehen, die in allen Größen über den Strand krabbelten. Der Weg war für mich etwas abenteuerlich. Zum Teil ging es felsige Wege hinauf und hinab und ich war nur mit Flipflops unterwegs. Etwa über eine Stunde hatten wir noch Zeit, die wir an einem wahrlich idyllischen Strand verbrachten. Ich kam mir vor wie Robinson. Leider geht Mika nicht ins Wasser, da sie sich vor Fischen ekelt. Für einen Seychellen Urlaub ist das für mich gar nicht nachvollziehbar. Andererseits bewegt sie sich gern und kann über Kilometer laufen, auch auf einer solchen kleinen Insel. Sie überzeugte mich davon, dass das auch auf den Seychellen geht, und ich nicht jeden Tag nur am Strand herumliege. So verabredeten wir uns am nächsten Tag für eine ‚Wanderung‘ am Anse Lazio.

After some petting the turtles, we walked through the mangrove forest across the island to the next beach, where we were later picked up by the same taxi boat. The turtles became fewer, but there were a lot of crabs to see, crawling in all sizes across the beach. The way was a bit adventurous for me. Some of it was up and down rocky paths and I was only wearing flip-flops. We had about an hour left, which we spent on a truly idyllic beach. I felt like Robinson. Unfortunately, Mika doesn’t go in the water as she is disgusted by fish. For a Seychelles holiday, this is not at all comprehensible to me. On the other hand, she likes to move around and can walk for miles, even on such a small island. She convinced me that this is also possible on the Seychelles and that I shouldn’t just lie around on the beach every day. So we arranged to meet the next day for a ‚hike‘ at Anse Lazio.
