Fünf Tage im Dschungel im Habarana Tree House Resort Ambesawana. Die Zeit verging wieder viel zu schnell. Und nun muss ich schon wieder Abschied nehmen von Ruwan und seiner Familie, seiner Frau, seinem Sohn, seiner Schwester und den vielen lieben Menschen, die mich in den letzten Tagen kulinarisch verwöhnt haben, mir jeden Wunsch erfüllten. Ich fühlte mich wie Prinzessin.

Five days in the jungle at Habarana Tree House Resort Ambesawana. Time went by far too fast again. And now I have to say goodbye again to Ruwan and his family, his wife, his son, his sister and the many dear people who spoiled me with culinary delights during the last few days and fulfilled my every wish. I felt like a princess.

Und jetzt ist es auch an der Zeit, diesen so wunderbaren Ort mal etwas näher zu beschreiben. Wer weiß, vielleicht gibt es unter euch Lesern den einen oder anderen, der darüber nachdenkt, Urlaub in Sri Lanka zu machen. Dann ist Habarana der geeignete Ort, um auf Elefantensafari zu gehen, das Aushängeschild, den Festungsfelsen Sirigiya zu erklettern oder sich eine exklusive Hotstone Fußmassage in den Tempeln von Anuradhapura abzuholen. Und am besten sucht ihr euch das Baumhaus Quartier. Ruwan, nicht nur Hotelmanager, ist der Architekt und Bauingenieur dieses einzigartigen Resorts. Die Baumhäuser und alle weiteren Holzkonstruktionen, das Küchenhaus und den Bereich, wo die Gäste sich treffen, hat er selbst entworfen und konstruiert. Und nicht nur das: Sogar den Tempeleingang von Habarana. Was für ein Genie.

And now it’s time to describe this wonderful place a little more closely. Who knows, maybe there are some of you readers who are thinking about taking a holiday in Sri Lanka. If so, Habarana is the place to go on an elephant safari, climb the flagship Sirigiya fortress rock or get an exclusive hot stone foot massage in the temples of Anuradhapura. And best of all, seek out the tree house accommodation. Ruwan, not only hotel manager, is the architect and civil engineer of this unique resort. He designed and constructed the tree houses and all other wooden structures, the kitchen house and the area where the guests meet himself. And not only that: even the temple entrance of Habarana. What a genius.

Nicht nur wegen der Einzigartigkeit des Resort sollte man hier herkommen. Die Frauen in der Küche geben sich solche Mühe mit dem Frühstück und Abendessen. Ich hatte eine Riesenauswahl an Pancakes, Obst, Samosas, Currygerichten, Reis, Reisnudeln, Kokos…. Und jeden Tag standen andere Sachen auf dem Tisch. Ich vermisse es jetzt schon. Und das alles in romantischer Dschungelatmosphäre. Ist das alles wahr? Man schläft mit Dschungelgeräuschen ein, wird entweder vom Vogelzwitschern, Pfauenschreien oder den Gebetssängen der Mönche im Tempel nebenan geweckt. Manchmal hört man auch den Nachtzug nach Trincomalee oder Colombo.

It is not only because of the uniqueness of the resort that you should come here. The women in the kitchen go to such lengths with the breakfast and dinner. I had a huge choice of pancakes, fruit, samosas, curries, rice, rice noodles, coconut…. And every day there were different things on the table. I miss it already. And all this in a romantic jungle atmosphere. Is all that true? You fall asleep to the sounds of the jungle, awakened either by the chirping of birds, the cries of peacocks or the prayer chants of the monks in the temple next door. Sometimes you can also hear the night train to Trincomalee or Colombo.

Im erfrischenden Pool kann man sich nicht nur die Hotstone massierten Füße kühlen. Und bald gibt es auch eine richtig coole vom Meister Ruwan entworfene Partnerschaukel zum Chillen und Träumen. Um ins Baumhaus zu kommen, durchquert man einen kleinen Dschungel mit Goldfischteich, Wasserlilien. Blumen duften, Leguane, Geckos huschen über den Weg. Fehlt nur noch ein Krokodil. Die gibt es im Kaudulla National Park, gar nicht so weit weg. Ruwan organisiert die Safaris in die diversen Parks. Er organisiert auch TukTuks für kleine Rundreisen wie bis zum Sigiriya Felsen.

Not only can you cool your hotstone-massaged feet in the refreshing pool. And soon there will also be a really cool partner swing designed by Master Ruwan to chill and dream on. To get to the tree house, you cross a small jungle with a goldfish pond, water lilies. Flowers are fragrant, iguanas and geckos scurry across the path. The only thing missing is a crocodile. They are in Kaudulla National Park, not so far away. Ruwan organises the safaris to the various parks. He also organises tuk-tuks for small round trips, such as to Sigiriya Rock.

Alles hat eine sehr persönliche Note und der Wohlfühleffekt liegt bei 10 von 10. Mir tat es weh, den Rucksack wieder zu packen, ins Auto zu verstauen und wieder weiter zu ziehen. So schnell vorbei, schon wieder. Ich hasse es, die Sachen zusammenzupacken.

Everything has a very personal touch and the feel-good effect is 10 out of 10. It hurt me to pack the backpack again, put it in the car and move on again. Over so quickly, again. I hate packing things up.

Und Ruwan packte noch eins drauf. Er, seine Frau und sein Sohn brachten mich nach Nilaveli, wo ich die nächste Woche verbringen werde. Ich freue mich schon sehr auf den Indischen Ozean. Auf Strand und Sand und Meer. Auf Yoga. Auf ein kleines bisschen Partyfeeling. Doch ich werde den Dschungel und  Habarana und das wunderbare Essen sehr sehr vermissen.

And Ruwan packed one more. He, his wife and his son took me to Nilaveli, where I will spend the next week. I am really looking forward to the Indian Ocean. To beach and sand and sea. To yoga. To a little bit of party feeling. But I will miss the jungle and Habarana and the wonderful food very very much.
