14. August. Heute ist Montag. Noch eine Woche bis mich der Alltag wieder einholt. Ich konnte es mir bis heute Morgen nicht so richtig vorstellen, dass ich in einer Woche tatsächlich wieder zum Dienst muss. Doch dann werde ich doch schon heute wieder eingeholt mit Emails und Messages von der Schule, die im Handy aufploppen. Ich habe noch zwei Tage. Lasst mich bitte in Ruhe!

14 August. Today is Monday. One more week until everyday life catches up with me again. Until this morning, I couldn’t really imagine that I would actually have to go back to work in a week’s time. But then I am caught up again today with emails and messages from school popping up on my mobile. I still have two days. Please leave me alone!

Wir kamen heute ganz schlecht weg von unserem B&B am Sharbot Lake. Arlette und Craig erzählten uns über ihr Leben, über Kanada, über Höhen und Tiefen, die sie bereits durchschritten haben. We had a very bad time leaving our B&B at Sharbot Lake today. Arlette and Craig told us about their lives, about Canada, about the ups and downs they have already been through. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt im Rockhill B&B und wären gern noch länger geblieben. Doch heute geht es zur letzten Unterkunft bis zu unserem Abflug nach Hause. Weil es uns dort so gut gefallen hat, verbringen wir die letzten beiden Tage im Tailwind B&B. Reine Fahrzeit bis dorthin – 4 Stunden. Puuh.

We felt very comfortable at Rockhill B&B and would have liked to stay longer. But today we are going to our last accommodation until our flight home. Because we liked it so much there, we will spend the last two days at Tailwind B&B. Pure driving time to get there – 4 hours. Pooh.

Zwischendurch nehmen wir noch den Ontariosee mit. Man fährt zwar die Hälfte der Strecke nur an diesem entlang, sieht ihn aber vom Highway aus nicht, versteckt hinter Bäumen und Hügeln. Ich sehe ein Bild von den Sandbanks auf Google. Prince Edward County auf einer Halbinsel. Die Sonne scheint. Lass uns dahin fahren. Vielleicht können wir ja im Ontariosee schwimmen.

In between, we take in Lake Ontario. You drive half the way along it, but you can’t see it from the highway, hidden behind trees and hills. I see a picture of the Sandbanks on Google. Prince Edward County on a peninsula. The sun is shining. Let’s go there. Maybe we can swim in Lake Ontario.

21 Dollar Eintritt. Nationalparkpass zählt mal wieder nicht. Die Parkplätze waren fast alle voll. Alle nutzen das schöne Wetter und ziehen mit Sack und Pack an den Strand. Es war ein richtiges Ostseefeeling. Der riesige See, dessen Ende nicht zu sehen ist. Nur dass das Wasser süß ist. Und die Wassertemperatur war recht angenehm. Es fehlte nur ein Eismann. Hier muss sich jeder sein Picknick selbst mitbringen. Alkohol und Hunde sind verboten. Auf dem Rückweg wurden wir von der Polizei kontrolliert. ‚Haben Sie heute Alkohol und Drogen dabei?“ Warum erst am Ausgang des Parks?

21 dollars entrance fee. Once again, the national park pass does not count. The car parks were almost all full. Everyone took advantage of the nice weather and moved to the beach with their bags. It was a real Baltic Sea feeling. The huge lake with no end in sight. Except that the water is sweet. And the water temperature was quite pleasant. The only thing missing was an ice cream man. Here, everyone has to bring their own picnic. Alcohol and dogs are prohibited. On the way back, we were checked by the police. ‚Do you have alcohol and drugs with you today?“ Why only at the exit of the park?

Wir nähern uns Toronto. Der Verkehr wird dichter. Trucks rasen an uns vorbei. Es wird alles aggressiver. Die Fahrbahn erweitert sich auf fünf Spuren. Man muss höllisch aufpassen, dass man die richtige Abfahrt zum richtigen Zeitpunkt erwischt. Wälder, Wiesen, Seen, Puppenstubendörfer werden abgelöst durch Wolkenkratzer.

We are approaching Toronto. The traffic is getting heavier. Trucks speed past us. Everything becomes more aggressive. The road widens to five lanes. You have to watch like hell to catch the right exit at the right time. Forests, meadows, lakes, doll’s house villages are replaced by skyscrapers.

Ja, da sind wir nun wieder. Die Rundreise durch den Osten ist fast beendet. Es fehlt noch ein Highlight, das wir uns für morgen aufgehoben haben. Ein Muss! Alex versucht gerade für mich ein ESTA-Visum für die Staaten zu bekommen. Ihr könnt es euch bestimmt schon denken, wohin es gehen soll. Bis dahin.

Yes, here we are again. The round trip through the East is almost finished. There is still one highlight missing, which we have saved for tomorrow. A must! Alex is currently trying to get me an ESTA visa for the States. I’m sure you can already guess where we’re going. Until then.
